Iam27J, the campaign comprised of parents, teachers and community members from Brighton, Commerce City and Thornton who supported the $148 million bond measure for School District 27J, released the following statement about the loss of the measure:
“We are disappointed in the outcome of the election, because the bond would have helped the district address the very serious overcrowding happening in our schools. This situation will not get any better, and in fact will only get worse as more and more families move to the community.
Though voters decided to not support the construction bond, we are proud of the grassroots campaign we ran in support of 3B. The campaign made over 10,000 calls to voters and knocked on thousands of doors. Iam27J will continue to organize parents and the community to build support for School District 27J.”
