27J Wins National Financial Transparency Award

Did you know that 27J won a national award last year for financial transparency? The Brighton Standard Blade wrote:

Brighton School District 27J received the certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting, the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and reporting.

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada presented the award. It cited the district for its comprehensive annual financial report for the 2011-2012 school year.

“The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive spirit of ‘full disclosure’ to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR,” according to a news release from the GFOA.

"This award is indicative of the tremendous work our talented finance department staff does on a regular basis,” added 27J Superintendent Chris Fiedler. “The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report is just one of the many ways that our school district upholds its commitment to financial transparency in how we utilize our funds.”
